Today, SAN brings you crazy street artist Bortusk Leer and his new solo show at Tony’s Gallery.
TenThree brings us once again outstanding shots from this fun and very heartwarming show.
Outside the gallery, a few pasters welcomes you before entering Bortusk Leer’s den, The ground floor hosts the majority of the pieces but heading downstairs you pass a sign saying “Aladdin’s rave” and enter a smaller darkened, UV lit room playing old school house music and with a couple more large pieces on display – the fluoresent paint benefiting from the light – and a whole host of neon monsters hanging from the ceiling.
We really enjoyed this “Art Comedy” show and Bortusk Leer is one of the only artist that will bring you back straight to childhood.
We can only urge you to run to Tony’s Gallery to go see this very cool and lighthearted fun show by yourself.
The show runs until 26th June at Tony’s Gallery

SAN- Tell us a bit about yourself – who is Bortusk Leer?
Bortusk Leer – Bortusk is my Slovenian, victorian, top hat wearing, cane weilding alter ego.

SAN- How does it feel to have the launch show at the recently opened Tony’s Gallery?
BL- Yeah it’s been really good doing the launch show for Tonys gallery. It was especially nice to have so long to set up, be given the freedom to do what ever I liked with the space and work with a nice bunch of people whilst doing so.  I was literally camped in the gallery for 2 weeks which enabled me to get the show looking exactly how I wanted it, a real luxury…Happy days!

SAN- What is the show about & who do you think it will appeal to?
BL- The shows about trying to cheer people up a bit, hopefully it’ll appeal to kids and adults alike …….unless they’re miserable bastards of course.

SAN- You’re relatively new to the street art scene having only been active during the last 4 years, why did you choose to begin creating art of this form, what is your inspiration?
BL- I was working at a gallery and met Sweet Toof and Cyclops, they told me it was a laugh doing stuff on the streets, they were right. I suppose my main inspiration is childhood, something all of us adults (and kids) have in common.

SAN- Finally, is there anything else you would like to share with the readers of StreetArtNews.net?
BL- Yeah, Keep smiling!
