Melbourne-based Meggs spent a few weeks in Hong Kong working on “Journey is the reward” his new solo show at Above-second Gallery.
He had enough time to hang out with the local HK’s scene and to paint a bunch of new pieces around town including a series of Gweilo Ghosts’ stencils.
The Gweilo Ghosts were particularly fun. ‘Gweilo’(鬼佬) means ghost – the term for a white person in Asia and an amusing nickname from my Asia-born brothers; a nickname which I embraced and decided to run with my own comic twist of a red-head ‘boo’ Ghost creeping the backstreets of HK! –Meggs
