Maya Hayuk spent the last few days working on this new mural on Houston and Bowery in New York City, USA.
From her large-scale murals to small works on paper, her obsession with symmetry and nourishing colour play out in what might be seen as views from the Hubble Telescope, airbrushed nail art, Mexican woven blankets, Ukrainian Easter eggs, chandeliers, mandalas, rorschach tests or holograms.
Maya is the third woman to paint the iconic Bowery wall where renowned artists such as Keith Haring, Retna, Os Gemeos, Barry McGee and others have taken their toll. Started in 2008, the Bowery Mural is an outdoor long run temporary mural exhibition space in the borough of Manhattan in New York City.
