Back in Febuary, 5 artists created murals in and around East London telling the stories of various young homeless people as part of a campaign for charity Depaul.
The murals form part of a wider campaign called “Don’t Let Their Stories end on the Streets” and tell the stories of young people who have become homeless or are at risk from becoming homesless. Each artwork focuses on the individual story of a young homeless person, giving an insight into the factors that led up to them ending up on the streets.
The artists involved in the project are Ben Slow, David Shillinglaw, Best Ever, Josh Jeavons, and Jim McElvaney.
Visit www.streetstories.org.uk to hear the stories of the young homeless people and view time-lapse films of the artists painting their portraits, as well as a video introducing the project.
Each artist has also produced a limited edition of 30 screen print with all the proceeds of the sales going to the charity. You can get you hands on one of these beautiful pieces for only £80, knowing that by doing so you are helping to take a youngster off the streets.
