Multi-disciplinary artist Michal Maka has just sent in some shots of his recently completed “Geometry of sound” mural for Pow! Wow! Worcester. Featuring his signature style – sharp colours and geometric forms, the artist intervened yet another urban space…

In my  project „Geometry of sound” I want to refer to Pythagorean theories about the harmony of spheres, the concept of a combination of music and mathematics in space. These figures are divided into black lines, which show us the distance between the sounds – intervals. Color transitions symbolize the color of the sound, the work of music. This allows us to discern differences between sounds of the same height.

Geometry, musical notation and color range are attempts to organize the world in different categories of description, but they still do not allow the pattern of delight, joy or euphoria.

My painting is looking for Geometry of sound for its hidden proportions, rhythm and direction…
