Spanish artist Escif is back with a new monumental piece at Valencia Public Square. The project titles “This Too Shall Pass” started a year ago when they started building the big wood sculpture. A big 20 meters girl on meditation pose was installed on  for the Falles, a traditional celebration held in the city.
“The big sculpture was built to be burned today, the 19th of March, as a ritual. But due of Coronavirus crisis, Fallas have been posponed and the big meditating sculpture didn’t arrive to its end. As reflex of this crazy situation, we´d decided to add a big surgical mask to the face of the sculpture. Suddenly this image became a symbol of  peace and calm, unity and solidarity.” said Escif.
Because of people’s support, the Valencia government decided to burn just the body of the sculpture and keep the face with the mask in the square.

Check out more pictures of the sculpture below and stay tuned for more updates from Escif in the future.
