“The Altar”, a new mural by Borondo in Sulitjelma, Norway

Borondo recently spent some time in Sulitjelma, Norway where he was invited to create new artworks for the excellent Up North Festival.

Borondo recently spent some time in Sulitjelma, Norway where he was invited to create new artworks for the excellent Up North Festival.
The festival took place in a small village of Northern Norway. Sulitjelma was from the late 1800s one of the biggest mining communities in Norway. At its top the population was about 3000, but after years of cutback and finaly shutdown in 1991, the village now only has about 400 inhabitants. When the mining company left, they also left behind a huge factory area with great walls.
The Spanish artist created this beautiful piece entitled “The Altar” as a tribute to his father which has been repairing churches during all of his life. As usual with the Spanish artist, his painting technique gives a unique and distinct effect to this mural.
