Ñewmerica “The Birth Of A Nation” Group Show features such artists as Icy & Sot, LNY, Sonni, NDA… and many more who together built a traditional NYC Bodega inside of Exit Room Gallery offering all of your favorite vices hand-painted or stenciled at extremely affordable prices ($25-$75 each!).
Earlier today I had the chance to watch a crew of great artists and curators put the finishing touches on Ñewmerica’s “The Birth Of A Nation” a Group Show.
This group show featured not only the regular old patchwork of mixed pieces fighting for wall space, but additionally included a custom made classic NYC style bodega with shelves filled with packs of cigarettes, beer bottles, and liquor bottles. The interesting twist is that all the liquor and smokes have been painted or stenciled by the artists! This is the only time when paying $25 for a pack of cigarette’s might actually be a good investment ; )
The show opening is going on right now… and the art will remain on display and offering pieces for purchase (I would bet that most of the bottles sell out tonight!) for a couple weeks.
Sorry for the late warning but I just found out about the show today ; ) If for some reason you are bored and reading this (tonight April 3, 2014) the party is rocking until 2am with loads of giveaways, live music, and good people!
Even if you miss opening night I still highly recommend making your way over there ASAP to pick up your own one of a kind bodega keepsake:
