This new satisfying book of the young Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto aka Vhils, catalogs the majority of his commissioned and street work since 2006. As we have come to expect from Gestalten publications, this book is really well designed and straight to the point with all you would expect from an early monograph.

With some introductory text from the Marc and Sarah Schiller of the Wooster collective it is predominately a collection of high quality photographs of street work, installations, and gallery pieces. Its great to have a book like this on such a large scale. At 24 / 30cm the images on each page are pleasure to absorb, reminding us of the value of books, over the ‘throw away’ exposure that saturates us with looking at artwork the internet.

This Vhils monograph is 160 pages of the most extensive collection of his personal and commissioned work to date.
If you can find one of his street pieces that are often contemporary portraits, drilled, smashed and blasted into urban surfaces then even better! For those of us not lucky enough to see these in the flesh, and the book lovers among us, this publication is a must for the collection.

“Vhils” can now be purchased HERE for €39.90 / $60.00 / £37.50
