Jonathan Darby is currently in Za’atari, Jordan where he just finished working on “Peace Born Within” and “Compassion” for the excellent AptART project.
The current situation in Syria and its effects on North Jordan have created tension and conflict that are difficult to escape. In an effort to help children achieve peace in their community, AptART taught them importance of finding peace within themselves. Jonathan Darby along with the children then painted messages and images of peaceful individuals, homes and communities
For “Compassion”, Jonathan Darby and APTart led a workshop on humanity. Each child painted sentences about the topic. A Jordanian boy wrote, “when you visit our country, my family gets bigger.” They drew towns on the wall to represent where they are from. The picture of a young girl was then added over the messages to symbolise compassion. See the rest of the images below and then drop your two cents in the comments box.
