The Brazilian street art duo Os Gemeos have taken over Lehmann Maupin Gallery in New York City  and covered every inch of the space using every medium imaginable for their new installation entitled “Silence of the Music”.  Os Gemeos using their signature characters filled four rooms with both interactive  and  static pieces, some as large as life.  No space was wasted, even the ceilings were part of the show!  If this wasn’t enough the patrons were blessed with the one and only Dj Q-Bert on custom Os Gemeos turntables.

The who’s who of the art and entertainment world including JR, Retna, Pharrell, Swizz Beatz, Faith47, Icy & Sot, & Tavar “Above” Zawacki to name just a few came down and sweated it out in the ridiculously crowded gallery with hundreds of other patrons (the lucky one’s who actually got in).

Twin brothers Gustavo and Otavio Pandolfo transformed multiple rooms into an immersive installation that combines drawing, painting, collage, mixed media sculpture, and kinetic and audio elements. These works represent an evolution of the style Os Gemeos has perfected over decades. This exhibition offers a multi-sensory experience that embraces the power of human imagination, and the vast possibilities in visually interpreting the subconscious.

This is a show not to be missed.  The shear quantity of work to be seen is unbelievable. These few photos I took through the crowds do not do it justice. You could spend a full day at the installation and still find something new to admire.  I’ll be back again before it closes to get an unobstructed view, and I highly recommend if it’s humanly possible you should as well.
