While visiting his home town for a solo exhibition at Kunstverein Offenburg, Johannes Mundinger had a pleasure to paint on one of the buildings where two of his ancestors had lived in, in the 19th century, when both had been imprisoned for smuggling a forbidden socialist newspaper to Germany. Collaborating with Elias Errerd, artists completed the piece in just 5 days with some extra time dedicated for discussions, concept and preparation…
It’s my first big solo show in my hometown Offenburg, and I’m really happy to “come back home” like this, having eight big rooms purely for my work.
The German word “Flurstück” means „field sector“. It’s directed towards the work but also to the exhibition space. The Kunstverein consists of eight big rooms, arranged in one line, connected (and divided) by one hallway, so the visitor walks through this eight rooms, each dedicated to one part or series of my work.
