A figure holds a stinging nettle in one hand while watching a scorpion crawl across the other in Linda Steiner’s new mural, “Unter Brennnesseln,” at Post City Linz in Austria.
Painted across approximately 180 square metres, the work was made for “Addressing Tomorrow,” the large-scale public-art project presented by Calle Libre and Austrian Post at the former postal complex beside Linz’s main station. Steiner uses the image to argue for a less selective relationship with the natural world. “We should accept all things in nature,” she writes, “not just the beautiful flowers and butterflies but also the uncomfortable sides that don’t fit in with our lifestyles.”

The nettle and scorpion give that thought a direct, almost tender form. Rather than casting either as a threat, Steiner places them in the figure’s care: a small gesture of attention enlarged to architectural scale.
“Unter Brennnesseln” also extends Steiner’s ongoing “Cave” series, which she has developed during 2026. At Post City, the artist carries its imagery from her studio practice onto a public wall, joining a group of murals created under the “Addressing Tomorrow” theme. The project opened to visitors during the Calle Libre x Post festival on September 18 and 19, 2026.
The murals are part of the temporary artistic reactivation of Post City ahead of the site’s planned redevelopment.
