Microsoft launched the Designed on Surface project to showcase the many ways that artists Do Great Things.
The global project enabled artists in 17 cities (Melbourne, AUS.; Sydney, AUS; Brussels, BEL; Hong Kong; Paris, FRA; Berlin, DEU; Munich, DEU; Kuala Lumpur, MYS; Tokyo, JPM; Shibuya, JPN; Lisbon, PRT; Singapore; Madrid, ESP; Taipei, TWN; Austin, USA; New York, USA; and Long Beach, USA) to create outdoor murals that embody the spirit of the people and places in their communities.
. Each artist create a piece of art that was meaningful to them and their community, allowing them to express something local, on a global scale.
The program was developed in partnership with our friend Jasper Wong, the co-founder of POW! WOW! – a global network of artists who organize gallery shows, schools for art and music
