On our recent visit to Puerto Rico to cover Los Muros Hablan 2013, StreetArtNews took the time out to visit La Perla, one of the island’s most notoriously dangerous but most beautiful districts. Despite its reputation for crime, we’d heard that La Perla was also a hugely interesting location with its beautiful beaches and decayed walls.
As an offshoot of the Los Muros Hablan festival, several artists took the two-day trip with us to visit the area and decorate some of its buildings with a series of new murals. The highlights of the visit were two-fold, with the group of artists bringing excitement and creativity to one of the less privileged areas of the island, as well as creating a fantastic range of pieces.
Take a look after the click for a more comprehensive than usual series of shots from the visit, featuring artists Conor Harrington, Faith47, Axel Void x Filio and JAZ, led by Puerto Rico’s own Alexis Diaz.
