Growing up skateboarding I always enjoyed board graphics, Toy Machine adds and art section in Thrasher magazine. Around that time I started flirting with graffiti which eventually lead to appreciating street and urban art. Few years later I ended up with an Internet based job. Too much online time on my hands resulted in getting involved in art related forums, and finally writing for various art websites.

Right before flying to Bali for the inaugural TropicaFestival, our friend ROA spent some time in Kiev. Invited by the curators Geo Leros, Iryna Kanishcheva and Waone Interesni Kazki, the Belgian artist painted this large new mural on a side facade of a 5 storey building for the ongoing ArtUnitedUs  project.

Using a lot of negative space to emphasize the size of the work, ROA painted a classic piece with signature rodents. Depicting 3 different species that are pretty common for the area, he created a weird family of fury little giants. Despite the leg injury he had during his stay, he once again proved his great sense and knowledge of animal anatomy, as well as great use of pray paint and brush.

Check out some progress shots and more images of the finished piece after the jump and come back soon for more updates from Kiev and around the globe.
